Georgia E60 Expressway F3 Bid Project 1# Tunnel CompletedDate: 03/08/2022
Recently, the right hole of the 1# Tunnel of the F3 Bid Project of the E60 Expressway in Georgia has been completed, marking the full penetration of the 1# Tunnel, and the project construction has achieved a staged victory.
The 1# Tunnel is designed as a two-way four-lane separated tunnel, with a total length of 925.8 meters for the left hole and 873.5 meters for the right hole. It is a key and difficult project in the construction of the F3 Bid Project. In order to ensure the smooth penetration of the tunnel, the project department overcame various difficulties, carefully organized, rationally arranged, and took multiple measures simultaneously, strictly abiding by the construction principles of "short footage, weak blasting, quick closure, and frequent measurement", and firmly maintained the bottom line of construction safety. The left hole of the 1# Tunnel will be completed in November 2021.
Georgia's E60 Expressway, which links the capital Tbilisi to the port city Batumi, runs through the east and west of Georgia and is an important section of the Asian-European traffic trunk line; after completion, it will greatly relieve the traffic pressure of the existing section of E60. It is important for the development of Georgia and the region to significantly shorten the time for passenger and freight transport in Tbilisi and Batumi, and to increase employment opportunities. The F3 Bid undertaken by CRBC has a total length of 13.05 kilometers, with two-way four lanes, a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour, and a bridge-to-tunnel ratio of 76.7% throughout the line, making it a key bid section of the E60 Project.
