Kenyan President Kenyatta Inspects the SGR Tea Export Train

On January 6, Kenyan President Kenyatta inspected the transportation condition of tea exports by Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).

Kenyatta listened to the work reports of the Kenya Railway Authority, the Port Authority and the Kenya Tea Development Authority on the spot. He hoped that all units would work together to coordinate and cooperate in the railway transportation of exported tea, so as to open up new sources of goods for the SGR.
The first special train for exporting tea by Kenya SGR was dispatched from Nairobi Station at 9:08 p.m. local time on January 5, and arrived at Wrights Port Station at 6:19 a.m. the next day, carrying a total of thirty-one 40-foot containers of exported tea.
Kenya is the third largest tea producing country in the world. The completion and operation of the Kenya Standard Gauge Railway provides a high-quality, safe, efficient and fast transportation method for local tea exports. Africa Star Railway Operation Co., Ltd. actively responded to the government's economic development needs and opened a special train for exporting tea connecting the tea-producing area in western Kenya and Mombasa, a port in southeastern Kenya, to ensure the transportation needs of exporting tea time and stable exports every year. The amount of tea will also provide a new supply guarantee for the SGR.
