Mombasa-Nairobi SGR Saw a New High in Single-Day Passenger Volume
On July 18, the number of passengers sent by Mombasa-Nairobi SGR exceeded 10,000 for the first time, reaching 10,027, setting a new record for the highest number of passengers sent by Mombasa-Nairobi SGR in a single day.
On July 20, Eid al-Adha (also known as Corban Festival) in Kenya, to meet the travel needs of the Kenyan people during the holidays, the African Star Railway Operation Co., Ltd. deployed in advance and optimized the passenger capacity configuration on the basis of strict epidemic prevention and control. Since the evening of July 17, three pairs of passenger trains on Mombasa-Nairobi SGR had been upgraded to 18 passenger cars from 11 cars originally.
To ensure the safe and smooth transportation of passengers during festivals, all departments of the operation corporation cooperated with each other. The passenger transport department arranged volunteers to provide services for passengers, helping them buy tickets, wait for trains and get on and off; the transport department strengthened the management of passenger cars, and arranged professional personnel to monitor the operation condition at various passenger stations through video, so as to handle emergencies in a timely manner; the maintenance department ensured the quality of passenger locomotives and smooth operation during the service period to guarantee the punctuality of passenger trains; the vehicle department conducted technical inspection of passenger trains, ensuring the quality of vehicle preparation; the power supply department strengthened the inspection and maintenance of equipment to ensure the normal operation of lines, signals and communication equipment; the security department strengthened the patrol along the line and handled the information affecting the operation of trains at the first time, and cooperated with the station in security work; the dispatching department adjusted the operation, timely handled all kinds of information related to the operation, and ensured the safe and punctual operation of the trains.
