Thies-Touba Toll Expressway Project Won Final Verification Certificate
Recently, the Senegalese Thies-Touba Toll Expressway Project undertaken by CRBC received the final verification certificate issued by the employer.
The Senegalese Thies-Touba Toll Expressway Project, with a total length of about 114 km, connects Jez, the capital of the Jez District, with the religious holy city of Touba. The Project adopted the French construction standard characterized by high technical standard, harsh climate and great project difficulty. In December 2018, the Project was completed nine months ahead of schedule and opened to traffic, representing the only major infrastructure project in Senegal to be completed ahead, winning the admiration of the employer and the local people. The Project received the initial validation certificate in July 2019 and won the Global Best Project Award of the ENR Road category in the same year.
The Company has operated the Project safely for more than two years since the opening of the Expressway. During this period, the operation team worked with due diligence, united and coordinated as one, and in particular, scientifically formulated the epidemic prevention measures during the epidemic period, and completed all kinds of access services with high quality, thus ensuring the smooth operation of this "lifeline" in fighting the epidemic. In February, the Company won the bid for a 10-year operation contract for the Project.
As a high-level cooperation in infrastructure between China and Senegal under the framework of the “Belt and Road” Initiative, the Thies-Touba Toll Expressway Project has become a landmark project of the Senegalese government to build the "emerging Senegal." The completion of the Project has closely linked the coastal cities and inland areas, facilitated the movement of people and materials, especially the pilgrimage to Tuba, and played a good role in promoting the economic and social development of Senegal.
